We open up today with a nice 5 game slate, with some interesting matchups. So far, it has been interesting to see the back to back series and how teams have responded. We are definitely seeing some swings where a team comes out and shells the other team one night, and then gets shut down the next night by the backup goalie (Buffalo – looking at you).
EDM at TOR
This will be the chalkiest game on the slate. I would expect EDM1 to have high ownership – with McDavid, Nuge – should be solid value today, as well as Draisital pieced in. Keep an eye on lines, as one resource showed Yamamoto on PP1, but another did not. If he does end up being on PP1, this is good value to add into an EDM stack. Defensemen vs Toronto is a thing, so would look at Barrie if running the first line or PP1.
Tor1 will have higher exposure with Matthews, Marner, and then Rielly as well as a Dman stack. Tor 2 is a nice pivot option as well – the line has been more consistent than TOR1, and is a bit cheaper overall for the production. Tor 3 is a GPP leverage spot to attack EDM depth lines.
SJS at STL
San Jose shuffled their lines, and now SJ2 is pretty loaded with Hertl, Kane and Meier right now, so that would be my preferred line tonight. SJ1 is now Donato, Couture and Lebanc. Can pair with Burns or Karlsson for the stack. Usually, I don’t like targeting STL at home, but they appear to be a bit more vulnerable with the changes to defense this year.
STL, still prefer the second line in this matchup with Schenn, Schwartz and Kyrou, pairing with Krug or Parayko – even though he isn’t on the PP, has been more consistent. Hoffman is still decent value as a one off.
MIN at ANA
This matchup is an odd one overall. Min has done fairly well to open, but the production is inconsistent between lines. MIN1, is still the preferred, and probably will still run Dumba out as well. Rask hasn’t done a lot, so am a bit down on Min1 due to that. An odd PP stack like Parise, Fiala and Dumba may be the route to go for GPP if you run Min.
Anaheim’s offense so far as been Max Comtois, and if he does score, they don’t either. I don’t have a lot of interest in Anaheim today.
MTL at VAN
MTL2 will be a higher owned stack that you will see paired with TOR1/2 and EDM1/pp1 as well given their price. I don’t mind the match in Van overall, MTL3 is a good leverage spot for the matchup for GPP to attack Van depth.
VAN 1 – still going to run them out right now, but definitely have been underwhelming to start the season. Hopefully if Miller is back and stays healthy it will help that line out a lot. They are a bit more of a GPP play today, as a lot of how they do will depend if Price is a wall tonight or not.
ARI at VGK
ARI has been hot to start the season and make for an interesting GPP spot today. ARI2 has been very steady in production, as has Keller on line three. Can run Chychrun for a dman with them as well.
VGK has been a bit more up and down to start the season, Arizona usually plays fairly decent defense but still is a decent spot for VGK. Line 2 has been more consistent to start the season, but the shot production of Patches and Stone should be considered as well. Can also pair Tuch and Pie as a two man stack.
