Two weeks down and we’ve already seen some big trees fall with enough onlookers to confirm the noise as loud, long and with a little twist at the end that goes up an octave, but the people must remember that Atlanta would not be the great city it is today without Sherman’s cleaning crew. So it will be for these teams that are having their mettle tested. This creates some opportunity once getting past the mopey stage, though for those who exchanged high-value picks for two starts or two weeks there is little solace to be had. Perhaps irony is involved, but the best pitcher in the game after two starts, Garret Crochet, similarly went down in the first week of April of 2022. Two years is a long wait so kudos to the lad for keeping the faith.

Week 2 —–> 1
The Los Angeles Dodgers stay the king by virtue of an earlier start than most, but more importantly, high level performance both at the plate and on the bump. Pittsburgh Pirates climbed a few spots up into second on the back of a strong second week that saw both facets show up strongly. Houston Astros and Atlanta Braves join the Bucs in more of that second tier, while Boston Red Sox are a touch lower. Each of these four rode very good weeks to the top of the board, which tells us a thing or two about the level of week-to-week volatility we should expect at such an early point in this year’s campaign. Heartening news for the Toronto Blue Jays or Saint Louis Cardinals of the world who came in with high expectations, but have been betrayed by strengths a year ago.
