At the beginning of the season, it was recommended that fantasy managers may want to make sure that they have and keep a solid backup quarterback, even if you drafted a stud that would generally be an automatic start every week. If you do not have a solid backup, now might be the time to try and find or trade for one in your league. With an injury to Drew Brees, Josh Allen on a bye, and few other quarterbacks dealing with injuries, our focus this week will be to rank quarterbacks that could be available on your league’s waiver wire.
Week 11 byes: San Francisco 49ers, Chicago Bears, Buffalo Bills, New York Giants
FREE AGENT QUARTERBACK RANKINGS
1. JAMEIS WINSTON – Saints – With Drew Brees out at least two to three weeks, Winston becomes a top choice as the Saints have many offensive weapons.
2. TUA TAGOVAILOA – Dolphins – As he becomes more comfortable behind center, he could see an increase in his fantasy production. Tua also scores with his legs, giving potential owners the possibility that he could be a Kyler Murray-Lite kind of player.
3. DEREK CARR – Raiders – Owned in a bit more than 50% of leagues, Carr has a nice matchup this week at home against the Chiefs, which probably means a shootout.
4. ANDY DALTON – Cowboys – After you get through the initial “Ugh” factor, this is a veteran quarterback who has a lot of offensive weapons at his disposal.
5. BAKER MAYFIELD – Browns – His last two games were hampered by brutal weather in Cleveland, which is a concern this time of year. Has the high ceiling potential like the five TD game against the Bengals.
6. ALEX SMITH – Redskins – May have the most upside of anyone on this list as he now becomes the starter after Kyle Allen’s season-ending injury. He Smith completed 38 of 55 pass attempts for 390 yards last Sunday.
7. DANIEL JONES – Giants – On a bye this week, but could be a nice addition as he is starting to use his legs a bit more and keeping turnovers down.
RUNNING BACKS
SALVON AHMED – Dolphins – He rushed 21 times for 85 yards and a touchdown in his audition for the injury-plagued Miami backfield
KALLEN BALLAGE – Chargers – Has a “revenge” game coming up against the Jets this week as he appears to be the lead back while the Chargers wait for some injured RB’s to return.
DAMIEN HARRIS – Patriots – Was impressive pounding the football in Sunday’s night torrential downpour. He is valuable in the team’s run-heavy offense. REX BURKHEAD is not a bad pickup either.
WIDE RECEIVERS
JAKOBI MEYERS – Patriots – caught five passes for 59 yards in the messy weather as well as throwing another TD. The former High School quarterback has a lot of value while Julian Edelman is out.
KEELAN COLE – Jaguars – Has high upside and has been Jacksonville’s most consistent wideout this year. That is not saying much, but if you are in need, you could do worse.
ALLEN LAZARD – Packers – The cautious Packers are easing him back to the playing field but the best thing you need to know about Lazard is that Aaron Rodgers likes him.
JALEN REAGOR – Eagles – He returned to action from a shoulder injury hot but really needs Carsen Wentz and the offense to pick up steam.
