Injuries are starting to mount up so that means it time to take a look at the waiver wire to see what is out there to not only replace injured players, but also those players who are on a bye.
Teams on a bye for Week 7: Indianapolis Colts, Miami Dolphins, Baltimore Ravens, Minnesota Vikings
QUARTERBACK:
JIMMY GAROPPOLO – 49ERS
He looked a lot sharper on Sunday night (268 yds-3 TDs-0INT) in the win over the Rams and has a full complement of offensive weapons back and healthy (MINUS Mostert). The matchup against the Patriots in week 7 is also inviting.
TIGHT ENDS
Injuries to Jonnu Smith and Zach Ertz leads the list of TE’s who are out in week 7
Anthony Firkser – Titans
If you need a replacement for Smith, look no further than his replacement in Tennessee. Firkser had a huge day in Week 6 with eight catches and a touchdown. Ryan Tannehill is throwing the ball well and the Titans have scored at least 30 points in four straight games.
Darren Fells – Texans
The Texans are looking much better since Bill O’Brien was fired. Fells has three touchdowns already this season, and he had seven TD’s in 2019. Also, Deshaun Watson likes to use Fells and his big frame.
Dallas Goedert – Eagles
With Ertz out for a few weeks, Goedert becomes a nice target in a depleted Eagles receiving corps. He is now eligible to return from injured reserve after missing three games due to a broken thumb. Goedert was doing quite well before his injury.
RUNNING BACKS
Boston Scott – Eagles
Sanders will probably be out for Thursday night’s contest against the Giants, so Scott should see more action. Scott had 11 total touches in Week 1, when Sanders was out and was a very useful player for the Eagles down the stretch in 2019.
La’Michal Perine – Jets
With Le’Veon Bell gone, Perine played 39 snaps (57%), compared to 25 for Frank Gore and four for Ty Johnson. Even though Perine’s stats were not as good as Gore’s, he is the more complete player and at least should be a nice bench stash.
Giovanni Bernard – Bengals
Joe Mixon left Sunday’s game late with an injury. Bernard would get the majority of touches if Mixon is out and would make a nice fantasy play, such much so that he would be a top 15 RB in week 7.
JaMycal Hasty – 49ers
Hasty did well when Raheen Mostert did not play in the second half of their week 6 game. The rookie from Baylor rushed nine times for 37 yards and could get used more in the passing game going forward.
WIDE RECEIVERS
Tee Higgins – Bengals
Higgins will probably be owned in more than 50% in most leagues after this week so this may be your last chance to grab him. The 33rd overall pick in this year’s draft had 125 receiving yards for his fourth straight game and has developed some nice chemistry with Joe Burrow
Tim Patrick – Broncos
Patrick has three straight double-digit fantasy games, with 100-plus receiving yards in consecutive weeks. Jerry Jeudy will garner much of the opponent’s attention to Patrick makes a nice compliment.
Preston Williams – Dolphins
If Devontae Parker has to miss time, Williams will be the guy who steps up. He has a touchdown in three of his past four games and is starting to work way back from last year’s torn ACL
Last week’s breakout darlings, Chase Claypool and Travis Fulgham still might be on some waiver wires. Another Steeler wide receiver, JAMES WASHINGTON, filled in nicely in the absence of Diontae Johnson. He recorded four receptions on seven targets for 68 yards and a touchdown in Week 6 against the Browns.
