A Pick-Six for Waiver Wire Week Six
A Pick-Six for Waiver Wire Week Six:
Week five brought us some more injuries and five interceptions from Ben Roethlisberger. That’s right, five interceptions in one game courtesy of the Jacksonville Jaguars with Telvin Smith and Barry Church returning a pair of Ben Roethlisberger’s interceptions for touchdowns. So in honor of this feat, we have “picked six” players that could be added to your fantasy team this week.
Still just owned in a little over 50 percent of most leagues, Seferian-Jenkins has a chance to be one of this year’s top tight ends. In the three games that he has played in this year, he caught 15 of 18 targets for 106 yards, complete with a touchdown against the Browns. His next game is against the mediocre Patriots defense, who are really struggling in covering tight ends.
The 49ers like this guy as a pass-catcher and head coach Kyle Shanahan has always had a tight end-friendly offense. In a 26-23 overtime loss to the Colts, Kittle had four catches for 70 yards on the 89-yard game-tying drive, including a 19-yard grab in traffic on 4th-and-1. He finished the game with a career-high 7 catches for 83 yards. The 49ers next face the Redskins who have allowed tight ends to be the leading receivers in each of their first four games.
In his first game versus the Cowboys, Jones averaged 6.6 yards per carry, totaling 19 carries for 125 yards and a touchdown. Even if Ty Montgomery returns, Jones should see plenty of playing time as he serves more of a traditional type running back than Mongomery does.
Many assumed that the Carlos Hyde’s hip injury led to more playing time for Breida, but head coach Kyle Shanahan indicated in his post-game press conference that he was simply riding the hot hand with Breida. This could signal a changing of the guard in the 49ers backfield. Breida did rush for 49 yards on 10 carries and 22 yards on three catches against the Colts.
Here is the first thing you need to know about the Colts backfield: Frank Gore is 34 years old. The second thing you need to know is that last week against the 49ers, Mack rushed for 91 yards and a score on his nine carries, including a 35-yard run late in overtime that set up the game-winning field goal. This could indicate that Mack may be seeing a larger role in the Colts rushing game in the coming weeks.
The Jaguars converted a pair of pick-sixes off of Ben Roethlisberger to give them more fantasy points after week six then they had in all of 2016. With the five interceptions Sunday, the Jaguars have an NFL-high 15 takeaways on the season. They registered two more sacks for an NFL-high 20 on the season. With their remaining schedule looking like this: LAR, @IND, bye, CIN, LAC, @CLE, @ARI, IND, SEA, HOU, @SF, @TEN, the Jaguars are looking like a top five DST for the rest of the season.
