What Happened Last Week – Top Fantasy Hockey Performers
This week’s list feature a budding star and a couple of aging players who are still showing some value. Enjoy!
Rickard Rakell – If you don’t know about Rakell yet you should. He is nearly a point per game player this year, and is a big reason for the Ducks being close to a playoff spot, in spite of all of their injury woes down the middle. He had 8 points in 4 games last week, and is only 24, so if you’re in a keeper league, he is worth perusing in a trade if you’re looking to get younger or upgrade your current forwards. It is also amazing to me that he is available in 5% of Fantrax leagues given his point production and his eligibility at all 3 forward spots.
Alex Killorn – Killorn had a 5 point game last week against Calgary, which puts him onto a 45ish point pace. Killorn is available in 62% of leagues, but his 3rd line status means he likely won’t see enough TOI to make him useful for a long period, so he is a streamer if he stays hot.
Reilly Smith – He had 5 points in 4 games last week as the Golden Knights keep rolling. A lot of players didn’t know about Smith heading into the year as he has spent his last 2 years playing for the Panthers, but Smith is well on his way to surpassing him 51 point career high, which appears to be common place for Golden Knights players this year.
Keith Yandle – With his current pace, Yandle is on track for his best point total in the last 5 years. He had 6 points last week in 3 games to further that cause. He will be a 40 point guy as a defencemen and those guys are valuable. Grab him if you can.
Jaroslav Halak – Halak was peppered with shots last week making 124 saves in 3 games, posting a 0.918 save percentage for the week. While the percentage is decent, the saves totals are out of this world. I had to wonder for a few minutes if the Islanders were playing defense at all when your goalie is making 41 saves a night. He is available in 39% of leagues so if saves are a counted stat Halak is a guy to grab.
